On January 10, 2024, the Charlotte Chess Center hosted the Wednesday Action Quads event at the Main/South location. The tournament attracted a total of 26 participants across six quads, including a six-player Quad F.
One storyline from this tournament was the return of strong NM Daniel Cremisi, who is one of the area's top homegrown talents with a USCF rating around 2400. Cremisi hadn't played in North Carolina in over two years, but he picked up right where he left off, winning all three games in Quad A.
Three other players finished with on 3/3 in their respective quads as well. The biggest gainer among non-provisional players in this tournament was Kyle Cameron, whose perfect score in Quad D earned him 110 rating points and a new all-time peak rating. The other two perfect results were from Shravan Dash in Quad B and Steven Libonati (playing his first USCF-rated tournament ever!) in Quad F.
Here are the winners from each of the six quads:
Quad A: Daniel Cremisi (3 points)
Quad B: Shravan Dash (3 points)
Quad C: Vihaan Purohit (2.5 points)
Quad D: Kyle Cameron (3 points)
Quad E: Three-way tie between Akshith Chintalacheruvu, Druv Balamurugan, and Vivan Ghule (2 points)
Quad F: Steven Libonati (3 points)
Congratulations to all quad winners, and we hope to see you at the next Wednesday Action Quads tournament on January 17!

totally get where you're coming from on needing something that actually respects your brain space instead of just flashing lights at you. it's weirdly hard to find stuff that sits in that pocket between mindless clicking and needing a phd in logic. this thing reminds me of a connect master level but if it decided to stop being polite and started gaslighting you about whether two shades of blue are actually the same. instead of just nuking candy, you are staring at these tiny memoji-style faces trying to figure out if that dude's slight smirk matches the girl's grin or if the game is baiting you with the headphones. honestly the visual deduction bit is savage, especially when you hit…
Flappy Dunk is the perfect mix of casual fun and skill-based challenge. Its simplicity makes it accessible to everyone, while its difficulty keeps even the most seasoned players coming back for more
Slope Rider turns downhill racing into a survival challenge where speed and control must work together. The mountain offers no forgiveness, and obstacles arrive fast. Staying calm under pressure is the key to lasting longer on each run.
I love how Charlotte Chess Center creates a space of connection where even spectators or beginners feel inspired and Among Us Online want to learn more about chess.
