REGISTER

OVERVIEW

WAQ is a 3-round US Chess-rated tournament open to all players. Quads, which group players in sections of 4 by their rating level, are a great way for players to get closer matchups for a fun and competitive challenge, and a great opportunity to play 3 regular rated games in one night!

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants must be members of US Chess.

  • Open to all participants - no age or rating restrictions.

  • Limited to the first 60 players to register.

  • Online registration only.

  • Registration closes 15 minutes prior to round 1 if not already full.


HOW IT WORKS

  • 3 US Chess rated games every Wednesday night

    • Top 4 quads are also submitted for FIDE rapid rating

  • Quad format - players are placed into groups of 4 by their current "live" US chess rating to ensure close matchups


*Minor roster shifts to avoid family member pairings may be possible

ROUND TIMES

Round 1: 7:00pm

Round 2: ASAP

Round 3: ASAP

End Time: Between 9:00-10:00pm depending on quad level.



TIME CONTROL

G/20; inc/10

20 minutes per player plus a 10 second increment per move



PRIZES

$40 to the winner of each quad; $45 for perfect 3-0 score

Players Rated 2000+: Free Entry ($20 deducted from prize)

CCC Members: $20

Non-Members: $25

Use this link to withdraw from this event. Withdrawals close 30 minutes prior to round 1.

  • All players must be members of US Chess.​

  • Quad players are not permitted to withdraw mid-event.  Forfeiters will not be able to enter future CCC events.

  • Refunds: $3 transaction fee until Tuesday (one day before the event), $5 transaction fee for same-day cancellations until 6:30pm.

  • Players must withdraw by 6:30 if they are not going to play - no refund for cancellations after 6:30pm.

  • All registration closes at 6:45pm.
