The CCCSA conducts weekly and monthly chess events such as weekly rated play, special events, lectures, classes, weekend tournaments.

The CCCSA is constantly making efforts to create partnerships with local and national educational programs to further the expansion of chess not only locally but nationally.

TNA Lecture on Twitch (FREE)

6:30pm-7:30pm EDT

Geared to players 1200-2000

Twitch is a live streaming platform that is free for users. Simply create a login and observe the lecture. Resident masters

GM Daniel Naroditsky and FM Peter Giannatos will be the hosts of the lecture.

Joining the live stream means that you will be able to engage with the lecturer via chat. Videos will be uploaded to Youtube afterward.

Tuesday Night Rapid Action (FREE)

7:45pm EDT Sharp

4 round tournament starting at 7:45pm

 

Time control with be 10 minutes with a 2 second bonus every move.

 

The chess.com tournament system will automatically pair players from the club. Since this is an online event, tournament is open to all players.

Friday Night Action (FREE)

7:00pm EDT Sharp

3 round tournament with a time control with be 15 minutes with a 2 second increment every move. The chess.com tournament system will automatically pair players from the club. Since this is an online event, tournament is open to all players.

There will be no Saturday tournaments conducted during this period.

Sunday

Online Academy Classes for All Levels (Fees Associated)

All of the CCCSA Academy Classes will be conducted live via Zoom conferencing. CCCSA Academy Classes are not open to the public. Students must register in advance and pay the associated fees.

Once registered students/parents will receive a unique link to access each respective class.

 

What does this mean for the student?

  • Students will receive a live lesson from their usual instructor.

  • Students will be able to engage with their instructor in real time.

  • Instructors will upload problem sets online where students will be able to complete their homework (more details coming soon).

  • CCCSA course curriculum will be followed as planned.

How to Join CCCSA Tournaments Online:

 

  1. Login to chess.com (it’s free!)

  2. Join the CCCSA Official Club Page (only need to do this once): https://www.chess.com/club/charlotte-chess-center

  3. Go to Live Chess, as if you were going to play a live game

  4. Find the tournaments tab and select the CCCSA event (see image below)

  5. The rounds will start automatically at designated start time.
