The first Wednesday Action Quads event of the new year took place at the Main/South CCC location on January 3, 2024. The tournament attracted a total of 38 participants across nine quads, including a six-player Quad I.
This particular WAQ saw the debut of several new features, such as a new time control (g20+10) and prizes of $40 for each quad winner and $45 for a perfect 3-0 score.
Here are the winners from each of the nine quads:
Quad A: Three-way tie between Krishna Rallabandi, Steve Alapatt, and Christopher Williams (each with 2/3)
Quad B: Arya Sharma (3 points)
Quad C: Celine Atassi (3 points)
Quad D: Sri Pallapothu (3 points)
Quad E: Trishona Kumar (2 points)
Quad F: Diya Balamurugan (2.5 points)
Quad G: Murari Raghavan and Michael Paul (2 points)
Quad H: Rishaank Channad, Alexander Little, and Brian Lara (2 points)
Quad I (six players): Krish Konda, Arri Restelli, Philip Armstrong, and Aleksandr Perevezentsev (2 points)
There were some very impressive performances in this tournament. Notably, all three players who scored a perfect 3/3 in their quads (Arya Sharma, Celine Atassi, and Sri Pallapothu) achieved new peak USCF ratings in the process.
Congratulations to all quad winners, and we hope to see you at the next Wednesday Action Quads tournament on January 10!
