The last Tuesday Night Action of the month took place on January 30, 2024 at the Charlotte Chess Center's Main/South location. Across the entire month, a grand total of 114 players participated in Tuesday Night Action, 60 of whom took part in the last round!
Tuesday Night Action is held at the Main/South location every Tuesday evening. Each week, following a lecture by FM Peter Giannatos, participants are paired into one standard-rated game. Here are the winners from January 30:
Top: Shravan Dash, Patrick McCartney, Lokruth Patil, Eshwar Kothapalli, and Kishan Karthigeyan
U1750: Mario Pineda-Bermudez, Daniel Burkhart, Debs Pedigo, Steven Libonati, Namish Kondabathini, Akshay Rajagopal, Ibraheem Naushad, Peter Redei, and Deepak Vellattu
U1300: Kevin Nguyen, Shlok Kaushik, Aaron Vargas, Peter Prakash, Avery Bradley, Reyansh Mayank, Charles Cameron, Shobhankumar Subramanian, and Vinmay Nair
Heading into the final week, the only player with a perfect score across all four games was Joshua Wakefield in the U1300 section, but he did not play the final round. Nevertheless, with four wins in four games, Wakefield still finished at the top of the standings in his section. His rating jumped 144 points, crossing 1300 USCF for the first time.
In the U1750 section, CCC Coach Mario Pineda-Bermudez won his last game to finish atop his section with 4/5 as well. The player with the most points in the Top section this month was Shravan Dash with 3.5/5. Congratulations to all three of our top finishers!
The next Tuesday Night Action will be held on February 6. We hope to see you there.
