On Friday, February 2, 2024, the Charlotte Chess Center hosted our weekly Friday Action Quads event. FAQ is a scholastic chess tournament held each week at our Main/South location. A total of 32 players participated this week, forming eight USCF-rated quads.
Here are the winners of each quad this week:
Quad A: Benjamin Raz (3 points)
Quad B: Ranveer Sachdeva (2.5 points)
Quad C: Bhargava Meda (3 points)
Quad D: Three-way tie between Ritvik Jithesh, Gideon Beamon, and Micah Cardinal (2 points)
Quad E: Visaanth Aravindhan (3 points)
Quad F: Emma Sun (3 points)
Quad G: Sohan Nelapati and Evan Chen (2 points)
Quad H: Sreyash Meitra (3 points)
Benjamin Raz was the highest-rated player in the field by over 150 points, and he took care of business winning Quad A with a perfect score. By this author's count, that's already the third time he's done that in FAQ this year!
Big gainers included Bhargava Meda in Quad C, who broke 1100 USCF for the first time, and Emma Sun, who gained 146 points for a perfect score in Quad F. The other two perfect scores came from Visaanth Aravindhan in Quad E and Sreyash Meitra in Quad H. All players K-8 who achieve perfect scores in an FAQ tournament are qualified for our NEW Tournament of Champions scheduled for May 4, 2024.
Congratulations to all quad winners! Remember that players are free to submit games for possible inclusion in these reports using the button below or the on-site QR code. We hope to see you at the next Friday Action Quads on February 9.
