Overview:
The Super Elite Team is a premier, subsidized training program for students 17 and under with US Chess ratings over 2000. Led by the Charlotte Chess Center’s top instructors, this program provides regular, high-level training in a supportive, in-person environment.
Learn: Students train directly with our Grandmasters, honing skills alongside peers in a competitive yet friendly community.
Play: Team members compete at local, regional, and national events, proudly representing themselves and the Charlotte Chess Center.
Empower: Through expert guidance, mentorship, and structured support, students gain the tools and confidence to grow both as chess players and as young leaders.
Goals:
To increase the number of titled junior players emerging from Charlotte
To help subsidize the cost to parents for high level chess training
To motivate students to reach their maximum potential
To build team spirit and camaraderie between the area's top junior players

Qualifications:
Peak US Chess regular rating of 2000+
Must be active CCC member
Must be 17 years old or younger
Expectations:
Students must attend 80% of meetings
Classes meet at designated time with exception of holiday breaks. See 2026 holiday calendar here.
Play at least 1 CCC event a month
Wear Elite Chess Team gear when playing in tournaments
Fees:
This program is being subsidized by the CCC. We ask that parents pay a yearly fee as a commitment to the program. The fee includes the weekly one and a half hour training, supplemental materials, and custom Super Elite jacket.
Cost for yearly program beginning in 2026: $780/year
(only $65.00 per month, includes custom jacket)
