BRYSON FORDHAM
Junior Coach
Bryson was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, but a lot of growing up was spent all over the country. His family loved to travel, and in around seven years he visited almost every national park throughout the country and visited 49 out of the 50 states. He has known chess for as long as I can remember but was originally taught by his dad. It’s always been in his life in one way or another since. On the road he would play against AIs. Whenever they settled down for a while he would play at local libraries, and eventually he even started my own chess club. His mom likes to tell the story that before he was born, a little kid had asked her to play chess. At the time she didn’t know how, ended up losing, and decided right then that her kids would grow up learning the game. In the past few years he has settled down in Charlotte, got married, and found the Charlotte Chess Center. He has played in a few tournaments and finally hit his goal of 1800 on chess.com, which was a big deal for him and made him want to bring chess into even more parts of my life. He can say with confidence that his greatest achievement of all was getting his wife to play with him!
