Junior Coach

Amara was born in Wisconsin but grew up in Charlotte. She attended UW-Eau Claire for nursing and later received her graduate degree from Liberty University for Nursing Education. She always loved playing a variety of games and sports. Her introduction to chess began after college, playing against her uncle online. Amara enjoys the critical thinking and problem solving aspects of chess. Her son took interest in chess the summer before kindergarten and they began learning together. To her surprise, the Charlotte Chess Center had a chess club at her son’s elementary school. He liked it so much, he asked to sign up for academy classes too! After seeing firsthand how much her son was enjoying learning chess, she was excited to join the CCC team to teach other children chess too!
