The Charlotte Chess Center hosted the first Sunday Afternoon Classical of the new year at the North location on January 7, 2024. A total of 43 competitors played a round of USCF standard-rated chess.
The SAC is held at the North Center every Sunday afternoon, with one standard-rated game per week. The round one winners (and current leaders) in each section are as follows:

U1300: Arya Murthy, Brad Bolenbaugh, Jesse Nestorick, Sean Smith, Aashrith Managari, Arnav Anugandula, Adithya Arivazhagan, Carlene Pyne, Josh Alex, Major Collins, Anjali Clapp, Daniel Dieringer, Kushal Kotturu, and Axiao Yao (with Jeremy Ammerman also receiving a full-point bye)
