Hi, my name is Moses Collins, and I am an Empower intern for the Charlotte Chess Center. This is a program for high school teens that are passionate about chess and want to be taught important life skills. I was recently at a charity event hosted by Jaycee Horn and the Carolina Panthers, and it was a blast!
There were tons of people there and many people came to play chess with me and the staff from the Charlotte Chess Center. After guests played a chess game, they got to spin a prize wheel to win multi-colored chess keychains and magnets. Some people were playing games like musical chairs and this game where you had to roll up wrapping paper with your feet as fast as you could. Guests were also eating popcorn, chicken n' waffles, and other tasty foods. Some guests even won prizes like football game tickets and bikes. I had an amazing time and I think we encouraged people to visit the Charlotte Chess Center. I hope to get more opportunities like this again!
