OVERVIEW
Youth Rapids is a chess tournament designed to help students experience the excitement of competitive play. The event features one rated section and two unrated sections, making it a perfect opportunity for players of all skill levels to participate. Open to all K–8 students, this tournament offers a fun and educational environment to sharpen skills and build confidence in tournament chess.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be in Pre K - 8th Grade (ages 13 and under)
Limited to first 50 to register.
Registration closes 30 minutes prior to round 1 if not already full.
Online registration only.
Rated Section requires US Chess membership.
Unrated Sections do not require any memberships.

All equipment provided - you do not need to bring anything.
Great option for students easing their way into formal play.
Non-elimination - students play 4 games regardless of the outcome.
US Chess Standard Tiebreaks used for prize distribution.
Byes: If you need to skip a round, you can request half-point byes for up to 2 rounds. Byes must be requested at registration or via email before the tournament starts. Once the tournament begins, all requested byes are 0 points. If you plan to play all rounds, do not request any byes.
Refunds: $5 fee for cancellations before the event; $10 fee for same-day; no refund after event begins
