OVERVIEW

CCC New Year's Eve Rapid and Blitz is a 1-day event offering 14 rapid/blitz rated games and a $1,000 guaranteed prize fund!

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants must be US Chess members.

  • Each event (rapid, blitz) is limited to the first 62 to register.

  • Online registration only.

  • Registration for each event closes 15 minutes prior to round 1 if not already full.

RAPID SCHEDULE

  • Registration closes 10:45am.

  • Rounds: 11:00am, 11:40am, 12:20pm, 1:00pm, 1:40pm

  • Break between Rapid and Blitz: 2:15 - 3:00pm

  • Time Control: G/10; inc/5

  • 5 Games (Swiss, single rounds)

  • 1 open section with class prizes

  • Live US Chess Regular Ratings used for pairings and prizes

  • TD may use US Chess Quick or FIDE Rapid ratings if higher

  • US Chess Quick and FIDE Rapid Rated​

  • Rounds: 3:00pm then ASAP, Blitz ends ~5:15pm.

  • 1 open section with class prizes

  • Live US Chess Regular Ratings used for pairings and prizes

  • TD may use US Chess or FIDE Blitz ratings if higher

Players rated 2200+: Free entry ($25 deduction from prize per event - no deduction for GMs, IMs, 2400+)

CCC Members: $25 per event

Non-Members: $30 per event

REGISTER

  • All equipment provided - must use our equipment.

  • Event is US Chess Quick and Blitz rated – US Chess membership required

  • Event is also FIDE Rapid and Blitz rated – FIDE membership (no cost) will be created for new members.

  • Live US Chess regular OTB ratings used for pairings and prizes. At the TD's discretion, USCF Blitz, Quick or FIDE ratings may be used if higher than USCF regular.

  • Accelerated pairings are possible.

  • Refunds: $5 fee for refunds before the event; $10 fee for same-day; no refund after event begins

  • Byes: Players may take up to 2 optional half-point byes in either tournament, must request before round 1. Byes allow a player to skip a round they cannot otherwise attend.  All byes requested during the tournament are zero points.
