OVERVIEW
The 2025 North Carolina Open Scholastic is a 5-round K-8 tournament held alongside the NC Open and US Masters. It is open to K-8 players (age 13 or younger) with a rating under 700 or unrated.

Online registration strongly recommended.
Scholastic registration closes 1 hour before round 1 start time.
On-site registration: Friday 9:00-9:15am at Midway room.
On-site check-in is not necessary for players who registered online
ELIGIBILITY
K-8 players only (age 13 and under)
Players must be unrated or rated under 700 based on the November 2025 US Chess rating supplement.
FORMAT
5 rounds – no eliminations
Time Control: G/20, inc/10
November US Chess Supplement Ratings are used.
US Chess Rated - US Chess Membership required.
Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment)
Byes (request to skip certain rounds):
Up to 2 optional half-point byes which must be requested at least 1 hour before round one begins.
All byes requested after the start of round one are zero-point byes.

No Spectators. Parents and spectators are not permitted in the playing area and nearby hallways and restrooms.
Withdrawals/Refunds:
$5 transaction fee for cancellations until November 27.
50% refunds after November 27 until 1 hour before round 1
All withdrawals during the event must be submitted at least 1 hour before the round.
Ratings Used for Pairings and Prizes:
For most players, November 2025 US Chess supplement ratings are used.
For players who would otherwise be unrated, their live US Chess tournament history rating will be used.
By registering for or attending this event, players and guests grant permission to CCC to take and use photographs and video for purposes related to the event.
