OVERVIEW

The 2025 FREE $2,000 Blitz is a 6 round US Chess and FIDE Blitz-rated event held alongside the US Masters and NC Open.  This event is open to everyone but is free for those playing in the US Masters or NC Open.

SCHEDULE

  • ​Register on-site by 9:15pm.  Entries after 9:15 receive a round 1 bye.

  • Blitz round 1 starts 9:30pm, rounds 2-6 are ASAP.



REGISTRATION

  • Open to all players.

  • On-Site Registration Only, Saturday 4:00-9:15pm.

  • No online or emailed registration.

FORMAT

  • 6 single rounds

  • 2 sections (Championship and Under 2000)

    • No playing up – players must be rated 2000+ to play in Championship.

  • November US Chess Regular Ratings are used for pairings and prizes. 

    • At the Chief Arbiter’s discretion, live ratings, US Chess Blitz, FIDE Classical or Blitz ratings, or other ratings may be used if higher than US Chess regular ratings.

  • US Chess Blitz and FIDE Blitz rated - US Chess Membership required.

  • Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment)
