OVERVIEW

The 2026 $2,000 Blitz is a 6 round US Chess and FIDE Blitz-rated event held alongside the US Masters and NC Open.  This event is open to everyone but is free for those playing in the US Masters or NC Open.

BLITZ REGISTRATION

  • Open to all players.

  • On-Site Registration Only, Saturday 4:00-8:45pm.

  • Entries after 8:45pm receive a round 1 bye.

  • No online or emailed registration.

  • Round 1 starts 9:00pm, rounds 2-6 are ASAP.

FORMAT

  • 6 single rounds

  • 2 sections (Championship and Under 2000)

    • No playing up unless approved by the Chief Arbiter.

  • Time Control: G/3, inc/2

  • November US Chess Regular Ratings are used for pairings and prizes.

    • At the Chief Arbiter’s discretion, live ratings, US Chess Blitz, FIDE Classical or Blitz ratings, or other ratings may be used if higher than US Chess regular ratings.

  • Sections:

    • Players in the NC Open - Championship section will play in Blitz Championship.

    • Players in U2000 or lower sections in the main event will play in Blitz U2000.

    • On-site registered players will play in the section as determined by their rating.

  • US Chess Blitz and FIDE Blitz rated - US Chess Membership required.
