
OVERVIEW
The Charlotte Open Scholastic is a 5 round K-8 tournament held alongside the Charlotte Open. It is open to all players aged 13 or younger with a rating under 600 (or unrated).
Participants may engage with GM Yasser Seirawan who will lead Q&A's, blitz challenges, game analysis, and more!

ELIGIBILITY
K-8 players only (age 13 and under)
Players must be unrated or rated under 600 based on the January 2024 US Chess rating supplement.
TIME CONTROL
G/25, inc/5
Each player begins with 25 minutes and receives a 5 second bonus per move.
PRIZES
Trophies to top 10, based on US Chess standard tiebreaks

Withdrawals / Refunds:
Withdrawals by January 11 will incur a $5 transaction fee.
50% refunds after January 11 until 1 hour before round 1.
No refunds once event begins.
All withdrawals during the event must be submitted at least 1 hour before the affected round.
Up to 2 optional half-point byes, request before round 1. All byes requested during tournament are zero points.
January 2024 US Chess (OTB) ratings used for pairings and prizes in all sections.
