OVERVIEW

The Carolinas Classic Blitz is a 6 round blitz event held alongside the Carolinas Classic, featuring a $1,500 guaranteed prize fund!  Blitz tournament entry is open to all players, but free for Carolinas Classic players. 


Enjoy your stay at the newly renovated lakeside Hilton Charlotte University Place. Take a walk on the lake, shop, dine and more!

SCHEDULE

  • Saturday, June 8​

  • Register on-site by 8:15pm.  Entries after 8:15pm receive a round 1 bye.

  • Blitz round 1 starts 8:30pm, rounds 2-6 are ASAP.

  • Tournament ends around 10:30pm.



REGISTRATION

  • On-site blitz registration only.  No online or emailed registration.

    • Free for players who are playing in the Carolinas Classic or Carolinas Classic Scholastic.  Register in person, 4:00-8:15pm on Saturday June 8.

    • $30 for others.  Register in person, 4:00-8:15pm on Saturday June 8.

  • US Chess membership required for all players.

  • Registration after 8:15pm will incur a round 1 bye.

Top U1400 USCF: $40

Top U1000 USCF or Unrated: $40


ENTRY FEE

Free Entry for players in the Carolinas Classic or Scholastic

Other Players: $30

  • Blitz tournament is US Chess Blitz rated and FIDE Blitz rated - US Chess Membership required.

  • Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment)

  • Plaques to first place in main event sections, based on the following US Chess tiebreaks: Cumulative, Average Opposition Rating cut one.

  • By registering for or attending this event, players and guests grant permission to CCC to take and use photographs and video for purposes related to the event.
