ALTO is a special 5-round event open to players aged 21 and older. There is a registration cap of 140 players, and a guaranteed prize fund of $6,000.

No spectators are allowed in the playing area.
ALTO is only open to players age 21+ as of April 19, 2024.
Registration Cap: 140 players
Online registration only, closes April 19 at 5:30pm or when the capacity limit is reached.
100 Point Rule: Players may play up if their rating is within 100 points of the section limit. Example: 1700+ to enter Championship Section. Players may use any of the following to qualify for the 100 point rule:
Current rating at the time of registration
April 2024 US Chess supplement rating
Live rating achieved thereafter
Byes:
Any changes (registration, byes, withdrawals) must be submitted at least 1 hour before the round in question.
Half-point byes allow a player to skip a round they cannot otherwise attend.
Players may take up to 3 optional half-point byes, request before round 1.
All byes requested during the tournament are zero points. Half-point byes must be requested before round 1.
Refunds – all withdrawals by April 17 will be refunded minus a $10 transaction fee. 50% withdrawals after April 17 until 1 hour before round 1.
Unrated players must enter the Under 1400 Section and are eligible for place prizes (1st-3rd).
Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment).
In all sections, White's clock will be started at the start of the round, even if players are not present.
All sections are US Chess rated. US Chess membership is required. The Championship and Under 1800 sections are also FIDE-rated and uses FIDE rules.
April 2024 US Chess regular OTB ratings used for pairings and prizes in all sections.
Plaque to first place in each section, based on US Chess cumulative tiebreak and "average opposition rating, drop one" tiebreak if necessary.
By registering for or attending this event, players and guests grant permission to CCC to take and use photographs and video for purposes related to the event.
FAIR PLAY MEASURES
No spectators are allowed in the playing area.

Tournament staff will be equipped with wands and other anti-cheating equipment.
Stronger quality and quantity of tournament directors, arbiters, and organizers than other events.
