Elite Chess Team

FORMAT

The CCC will provide a subsidized training program for students (17 and under) with ratings over 1500. The CCC's top instructors will lead the instruction to provide regular high level training.

WHEN

Wednesdays from 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Couple the training with the Wednesday Action Quads event!

QUALIFICATIONS

Peak US Chess regular rating of 1500+
Must be active CCC member
Must be 17 years old or younger

EXPECTATIONS

Students must attend 80% of meetings
Play at least 1 CCC event a month
Wear Elite Chess Team gear when playing in tournaments

GOALS

To increase the number of titled junior players emerging from Charlotte
To help subsidize the cost to parents for high level chess training
To motivate students to reach their maximum potential
To build team spirit and camaraderie between the area's top junior players

COACHING

The Elite Team will be led by GMs Daniel Naroditsky and Oleksandr Bortnyk who have both extensive playing and coaching experience. Other guest instructors may also join and include: GM Ashwin Jayaram, FM Peter Giannatos, and NM Dominique Myers.

RESOURCES/SPONSOR

The CCC has partnered with Chess.com to provide courses to students on the Elite Chess Team. These come at no additional cost to the student and are great resources for self study.

FEES

This program is being subsidized by the CCC. We ask that parents pay a nominal yearly fee as a commitment to the program. The fee includes the weekly training, supplemental materials, and Elite Team gear.

Cost for yearly program beginning in 2024: $200

Enrollment will reopen to new students in July of 2024
