JOE HEALY
Assistant Coach
A native New Yorker, Joe earned his JD from Brooklyn Law School. After passing the NYS Bar exam he became a federal agent and worked closely with attorneys from Main Justice in Washington, DC prosecuting large fraud cases culminating in the extradition, and successful prosecution of, Costa Rican based sweepstakes scam artists.
He didn’t learn to play chess until he was 30 years old when a friend gave him a book by Fred Reinfeld leading to a lifelong fascination with the game. He especially enjoys working with kids as they teach him that chess is fun!
He and his wife now live happily ever after in their adopted state of North Carolina and have two adult daughters. When not playing chess Joe likes to cook (even native Southerners grudgingly praise his grits casserole) and read – his latest interest is Science Fiction.
