Massive Turnout, Eleven Quads at Charlotte Chess Center SAQ

Sunday Action Quads (SAQ) at the Charlotte Chess Center this weekend nearly set a record. With 50 total players, the only bigger turnout in the history of SAQ was the very first event last April, which attracted 54. As a result, there were a total of eleven (!) quads as well as a small extra section in Sunday's event, held at the Main/South location on January 7.

SAQ is a three-round USCF-rated event held every Sunday, open to all scholastic players. Here are the quad winners:

Quad A: Mukund Neema (3 points)

Quad B: Claire Xu (2 points)

Quad C: Bala Ramesh and Neil Harit (2 points)

Quad D: Three-way tie between Satvick Kumar, Joel Kindy, and Ritvik Kumar (2 points)

Quad E: Druv Balamurugan (3 points)

Quad F: Arnav Watwe (2.5 points)

Quad G: Anirudh Prasanna (3 points)

Quad H: Sudeeksha Shashidhar (2.5 points)

Quad I: Jordan Augustine (3 points)

Quad J: Anshi Dash and Kaushal Dalal (2 points)

Quad K (six players): Jack Blair and Jaden Kang (2.5 points)

Additionally, we'd like to thank Druv, Satvick, and Neil for playing against Arya Murthy, who traveled from Raleigh and played three house games in the extra section.

Congratulations to Mukund Neema, Druv Balamurugan, Anirudh Prasanna, and Jordan Augustine for their 3-0 scores, qualifying them for the NEW Tournament of Champions event, scheduled for May 4, 2024.

We hope to see you at the next Sunday Action Quads tournament on January 14!
