On January 6, 2024, the Charlotte Chess Center hosted two unrated scholastic practice tournaments, one at the Main/South location and the other at the North location.
Any student who scores 2.5 or more points in a practice tournament, at either location, earns a gold medal. We had a total of five gold medal winners at the CCC Main/South and two at the North location.
The following players won a gold medal at the CCC Main/South location:
3 points (perfect score): Michael Vu
2.5 points: Evan Chen, Bennett Cordero, Andrew Li, and Zachary Soliman
The following players won a gold medal at the CCC North location:
3 points (perfect score): Saharsh Gosavi
2.5 points: Holden Folsom
Each medalist also qualifies to play in our NEW Tournament of Champions event! The Champions Tournament is scheduled for May 4, 2024 and will feature four rounds, with 35+ trophies awarded as well as Grandmaster-led activities.
Our next practice event is scheduled for February 10.
