The Charlotte Chess Center is proud to host the 2025 Pan-American Intercollegiate Team Championship and US Collegiate Blitz Championship.


Collegiate chess teams from universities, colleges, community colleges, and technical colleges from the Americas and the Caribbean are welcome to join. See eligibility requirements below.


The events are both US Chess and FIDE rated.

REGISTRATION

  • Main event registration online – coming soon.

  • Onsite registration permitted until Thursday, Jan 2 at 1pm

  • Blitz – register for free onsite after round 3 of the main event (Friday, Jan 3)

Each player receives a base time of 90 minutes. After every move, 30 seconds is added to the clock.

  • Top 4 teams qualify for the 2025 Final Four College Chess Championship

  • Trophy to overall championship team

  • Plaques to:

    • Top 4 teams

    • Top Division II team (avg rating 2000-2199)

    • Top Division III team (avg rating 1800-1999)


Under 1800 Section

Cross-Section Awards



INDIVIDUAL PRIZES

Plaques in each section to:

  • Top individual boards 1-4

  • Top alternate

  • Top 3 female players

  • Top individual upset



US COLLEGIATE BLITZ

  • Friday, January 4 beginning at 9:30pm

  • 2 Sections: Open, Under 1800

  • Time Control: G/3, inc 2

  • 6 single rounds, US Chess and FIDE blitz rated

  • Free entry, register onsite after round 3 of main event

  • Plaques to top 8 individuals in each section




ENTRY FEES

$240/team by December 6, 2024

$260/team by December 20, 2024

$280/team after December 20, 2024


All teams must also complete the Student Eligibility Form by December 31


Registration should be completed by the team captain. Team captains will be able to use the registration portal to add members to the team and change board order.

  • All teams must also complete the Student Eligibility Form by December 31

  • Event is both US Chess and FIDE Rated

  • January 2025 US Chess regular ratings used for team averages.

    • See Pan-Am College Chess Rules above for FIDE and CFC rating conversions.

  • FIDE rules apply, unless otherwise outlined in the Pan-Am College Chess Rules document.

  • Withdrawals/Refunds

    • $25 transaction fee until December 20

    • $50 transaction fee December 21 - January 1

    • No refunds after Jan 1

  • Boards, sets, and clocks are provided in all sections – must use our equipment.

  • All prizes must be claimed on-site.  No mailed prizes



TEAM RULES

  • Each team must submit their roster by Jan 2, 1pm

  • All teams must designate a team captain/coach

  • Team ratings are determined by the average of the 4 highest individual ratings
