The NC Closed determines the official North Carolina State Champion as well as Class Champions from Under 2200 through Under 1200. The event is restricted to participants who reside or attend college in North Carolina.

Standard Entry: $99 by October 1, 2022, $114 after
GM/IM/WGM: Free, no deduction, conditions possible
All entry fees include a 1-year membership or renewal to the NC Chess Association.
Registration open to the first 120 registrants.
IMPORTANT NOTES

100 Point Rule: Players may play up if their rating is within 100 points of the section limit. Example: 1300+ to enter Under 1800 Section

Byes: Players may take up to 2 optional half-point byes, request before round 1. Byes allow a player to skip a round they cannot otherwise attend. All byes requested during the tournament are zero points.

Refunds: all withdrawals by October 13 will be refunded minus a 5% transaction fee. No refunds after Oct 13.

Re-Entry: Players who have an undesirable start in the 3-day may re-enter into the 2-day for $40.

No spectators allowed in playing area

The event is restricted to participants who reside or attend college in North Carolina.

Unrated players must enter the Under 1400 Section and are eligible for place prizes (1st-3rd).

Boards, weighted sets, digital clocks provided (must use our equipment).

All sections are US Chess rated.

October 2022 US Chess regular OTB ratings used for pairings and prizes in all sections.

Cumulative tiebreaks used for plaque distribution.

Registration is open to the first 120 players to fully register.

Registration will close once we reach 120 players and will only re-open if players withdraw.
