INTERMEDIATE I

This class is an introduction to chess tactics.

Students will learn various types of basic chess tactics including but not limited to: Forks, Pins, Skewers, Double Check, and Discovered Attacks.

What does this mean for the student?

  • Students will receive a live lesson from their usual instructor via Zoom conferencing

  • Students will be able to engage with their instructor in real time.

  • Instructors will upload problem sets to Chessable where students will be able to complete their homework (more details coming soon).

  • CCCSA course curriculum will be followed as planned.

  • Link to attend live class will be sent to all who register.

3:00pm - 4:00pm

Student Expectations: 

Attend the classes scheduled. Submit completed homework each class. Participate in at least one Unrated Practice Tournament.

Format:

All classes are conducted over an 6 week period, where students come

once per week.

 

Classes are always conducted in class sizes at or less than a 12:1

student/teacher ratio. Most classes have between 6-8 students.

 

Space limited to first 12 that apply to each class.

 

End of Course Goals: 

Students should have learned various types of basic chess tactics including but not limited to: Forks, Pins, Skewers, Double Check, and Discovered Attacks.

 

Tactics are a very important part of chess and this classes will be very important to beginners looking to take their chess to the next level. 

Students should have also participated in at least one Unrated Practice Tournament.

The CCCSA conducts weekly and monthly chess events such as weekly rated play, special events, lectures, classes, weekend tournaments.
