CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
FORMAT
The 2023 CCC Club Championship is open to players rated 1000+. There is a guaranteed prize fund of $2,500. The event has 5 rounds in 2 sections, with the championship winner being crowned the 2023 Charlotte Chess Center’s Club Champion.

Players may register ahead of time using the form below. Limited to first 64 to register.
Registration must be completed online ahead of the event.
REQUIREMENTS
Participants must be members of the US Chess Federation
Participants must be rated 1000+ to participate
TIME CONTROL
G/85; increment 5
Each player receives 85 minutes plus a 5 second increment to complete the game.
ROUND TIMES
Saturday: 10:30am, 2:30pm, 6:30pm
Sunday: 10:30am, 2:30pm
SECTIONS
Championship
Under 1700
100 Point Rule: Players may only play up if their rating is within 100 points of the section limit. Example: A 1600 may play in the championship section but not a 1599.
BYES
You may take up to two half point byes in any round. 1/2 point byes must be requested before the the tournaments starts. Byes allow a player to skip a round they can not otherwise attend.

IMPORTANT NOTES

100 Point Rule: Players may play up if their rating is within 100 points of the section limit. Must be 1600+ to enter Championship Section.

Rating Minimum: Minimum US Chess rating of 1000 required. No unrated players.

Refunds – all withdrawals by April 6 will be refunded minus a $10 transaction fee. No refunds after April 6.

By registering for or attending this event, players and guests grant permission to CCC to take and use photographs and video for purposes related to the event.
OTHER NOTES

Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment).

In all sections, White's clock will be started at the start of the round, even if players are not present.

Both sections are USCF-rated. Championship section is also FIDE-rated and uses FIDE rules.

Per FIDE rules at this time control, all games involving a player rated 2400+ FIDE will not be FIDE-rated.

2023 Charlotte Chess Center Club Champion title awarded to first place (co-champions if tied).

Plaque to first place in each section, based on US Chess cumulative tiebreak and "average opposition rating, drop one" tiebreak if necessary.
