CHESS + ART CAMP

Where:

Online Via Zoom Conferencing 

All registered students will receive log in instructions prior to camp

When:

Week 1: June 15-19, 2020

Seat Capacity:

  • Open to the first 24 students to join

    • There will be an 8:1 student/teacher ratio for chess lessons

    • Art lesson will be conducted in one group

Requirements:

  • K-12 Only - Students who are just beginning, or with limited knowledge beyond the very basics

  • These camps are best for students age 6 and above

  • Campers will be divided into groups based on their basic skill level

Camp Topics:

  • Students New to Chess will Learn: Piece Movement, Board Set-up, Basic Rules, Checkmating Patterns, and more!

  • Students Who Have Played will Learn: Tactics, Strategies, Opening Principles, Checkmating Patterns, Chess History, and much more!

  • In Art Students Will Have Projects Which Include: Op Art, Surrealism, Impressionism, Pointillism, Collages, Oragami, and more!

Tuition: $175.00 per week

FAQ:

Is prior chess knowledge required for these camps? 

Absolutely not. These camps are great for beginners as well as students with only a basic knowledge of the game.

Will students be able to play chess? 

Yes, we have worked out a plan for students to be able to play chess virtually.

Could we sign up for both camps? 

Yes. There will be levels to the camp. Students who join for the second time will be moved to the next learning group.

Are the chess and art lessons conducted in realtime?

Yes. All activities are done in real time along with the guidance of professional teachers.

Will supplies be needed for the artwork?

How experienced are the coaches/teachers?

Our chess chess teachers are full-time chess professionals. All of our teachers go through chess training practices and have years of experience. The art teacher is a certified school teacher who works in the local area public school system.

The CCCSA conducts weekly and monthly chess events such as weekly rated play, special events, lectures, classes, weekend tournaments.
