The Memorial Day Weekend Rapid & Blitz, held May 27-28, 2023, features three events over the holiday weekend.  There is a $4,000 total guaranteed prize fund.

  • Discounted combined entry fee if submitted in one transaction (no separate registrations).  No exceptions.

  • $89 by May 12 – Extra Early Discount, only applies to combined entry

  • Players currently rated 2200+: Free Entry if registered by May 22, $50 deducted from prize.

REGISTRATION

  • Players are strongly recommended to register online.

    • On-site check-in not necessary for online registered players.

  • US Chess membership required for all players.

  • All registration closes 30 minutes before round.

  • On-site registration:

    • G/45 – Saturday 9:30-10:00am

    • Rapid – Sunday 9:30-10:00am

    • Blitz – Sunday until 4:00pm

RULES AND NOTES

  • 100 Point Rule: Must be rated 1600+ to “play up” into Saturday G/45 Championship Section. Players may use any of the following to qualify for the 100 point rule:

    • Current rating at the time of registration

    • May 2023 US Chess supplement rating

    • Live rating achieved thereafter

  • Withdrawals/Refunds:

    • $5 transaction fee until May 25.

    • $10 transaction fee after May 25 until 1 hour before round 1.

  • Byes: Players may take up to 2 optional half-point byes per event, request before round 1.  All byes requested during tournament are zero points.

  • Registration Cap: registration closes at 130 players per event.

  • Ratings:

    • May 2023 US Chess regular ratings used for pairings and prizes in all events.

    • Accelerated pairings possible in all events.

    • All events are submitted for their relevant US Chess and FIDE ratings.

    • US Chess membership is required for all players.

    • Players without a FIDE ID number will be assigned one at no cost.

  • Boards, sets, clocks provided (must use our equipment).

  • Plaques to first place in all sections, based on the following US Chess tiebreaks: Cumulative, Average Opposition Rating cut one.

 

CCC FAIR PLAY MEASURES

  • No spectators are allowed in the playing area.

  • Tournament staff will be equipped with wands and anti-cheating equipment.

  • Stronger quality and quantity of TDs, arbiters, and organizers than other events.
