The CCCSA conducts weekly and monthly chess events such as weekly rated play, special events, lectures, classes, weekend tournaments.

The CCCSA is constantly making efforts to create partnerships with local and national educational programs to further the expansion of chess not only locally but nationally.

ADULT LEARNER SERIES

The Adult Learner Series will present a realistic guide for adults that will help them understand the great game of chess!

6:00pm - 6:45pm

Practice Period:

6:45pm - 7:30pm

Format:

The "Adult Learner Series" is a form of adult meetup where instructors are on hand to help teach the fundamental basics of chess.

 

Material will be divided into the following categories:

Level I: Participants have no real prior knowledge of chess. Will learn how to play a legal games of chess, understand how to set up a board, how to move all pieces, and the differences between check, checkmate, and stalemate.

 

Level II: Participants know how the pieces move, but no major understanding of tactics or strategies. By the end of Level II participants will have the knowledge and confidence to play in their first tournament game.

Adults are asked to attend as many classes as they can. 

New participants may join any week. Our instructors will do their best to accommodate all levels.

 

End of Course Goals: 

We intend to conduct this meeting as long as there are adults willing to learn.

Should participants want to take their game to the next level, they may register with the US Chess Federation and begin to play in tournaments.

First visit is free then participants are asked to join the Center

Center Membership - Only $40 a Year for Locals and $25/Year for Travelers
